A large number of pedestrians were attending the mass
Gardaí seized an e-scooter that they observed to be riding on a footpath where large numbers of pedestrians were attending Mass at Naas Cemetery.
According to Gardaí on social media, KuKirin G4 e-scooter had a 2000W motor and a maximum speed of 70 km/h.
They stressed that the e-scooter was "illegal to use on public roads in Ireland due to its power and speed".
The social media post also warned parents and guardians against purchasing e-scooters:
"Please do your homework before buying an e-scooter. Many of the high-powered models being sold online are not legal for use in Ireland and are completely unsuitable for children. If you're thinking of buying one, think again."
As a final note, Gardaí emphasised that there is "absolutely no place for a 70 km/h e-scooter amongst crowds of people".
