New figures reveal more than €3 million has been paid for car parking at Kildare train stations to date since 2024.
It comes as figures were released to Social Democrats TD Aidan Farrelly, with a national figure of over €20 million.
Speaking to Kfm News, Deputy Farrelly said the figures "represent an overall revenue that is sizeable and relatively stable", adding that he'd like to see the money be invested into better facilities at train stations in the county.
He suggested ideas such as providing for a more diverse use of the spaces, bike coverings, secure storage, e-charging points and so on.
"We have to make public transport as convenient and attractive as possible for users of it and encourage others to also consider it over private vehicles."
"In Kildare we have an extensive rail network, I’d like to see improvements made to not only the services but to whole public transport experience and that includes fully resourced station services and facilities."
