A man and woman named as witnesses in a failed civil court rape appeal by Straffan resident Conor McGregor have been charged with perjury.
38-year-old Samantha O’Reilly and 39-year old Steven Cummins, both of Cherry Orchard Green, Ballyfermot appeared at Dublin District Court today.
The couple are accused of giving a false statement material to the proceedings in an affidavit on the 14th of January 2025.
Samantha O’Reilly is also charged with perjury on the 6th of May 2025.
The case will be sent forward to the Circuit Court after the DPP directed the couple to face a trial on indictment.
Nikita Hand sued Conor McGregor in the High Court in 2024, accusing him of raping her at a hotel in Dublin in December 2018.
Mr McGregor denied the allegation and appealed against the decision of the civil jury, seeking to introduce fresh evidence that he was not responsible for bruising on Ms Hand’s body.
The evidence in the appeal included affidavits from Ms O’Reilly and Mr Cummins, who lived across the road from Ms Hand in Drimnagh in late 2018.
