TD and Minister for Education Norma Foley has today announced that eight schools across Kildare have been shortlisted for an energy retrofit programme as part of an €81 million EU funding package.
40 schools across five counties have been included in the initial assessment phase as part of the RePowerEU Extended Pathfinder Programme.
Schools chosen for inclusion in the programme will be given a deep retrofit to achieve a Building Energy Rating by installing heatpumps, LED lighting and mechanical heat recovery ventilation.
Fabric and airtightness of schools will also be upgraded, alongside the installation of electric car chargers.
The list of Kildare schools included in the Initial Assessment Phase are as follows:

Scoil Bhride, Milltown.
Allen National School, Allen.
Scoil Íde Naofa, Kilmead.
Robertstown National School, Robertstown.
Killashee MDNS, Kilcullen Road, Naas.
Coláiste Lorcain, Castledermot.
Scoil Naisiunta Bhride, Clane.
