The decision comes amid ongoing pressure on primary school capacity in the rapidly growing Naas area.
An additional Junior Infants class is to open at St Corban’s National School in Naas for the coming school year.
The Department of Education has confirmed the move, which is expected to provide places for most of the children who had been without a confirmed school place for September.
The decision comes amid ongoing pressure on primary school capacity in the rapidly growing Naas area.
Independent Ireland Cllr Bill Clear said: "This is very positive news for local families. Up to 30 children in Naas were facing the real prospect of being left without a school place this September. The extra class at St Corban’s will now provide places for most of those children and will relieve enormous stress and uncertainty for parents."
He added: "We cannot continue to build thousands of houses without schools, services and facilities. Children’s education cannot be an afterthought."
