Swim Ireland has also supported the plans to develop permanent swimming facilities in conjunction with Kildare County Council.
The news has been welcomed by a number of Kildare cllrs and TDs, such as Kildare North TDs Naoise Ó Cearúil and Aidan Farrelly, Labour Cllr Rupert Heather, Fianna Fáil Cllr Bernard Caldwell, Social Democrats Cllr Claire O'Rourke and Minister for Higher Education/Kildare North TD James Lawless.
