Fianna Fáil councillor Donna Phelan has tabled a motion warning that, without urgent action, the district could face delays in getting festive lights up in time for the season.
A special meeting of the Clane–Maynooth Municipal District is being held on Monday to save Christmas.
Councillors have been called in for a 2.30pm session at Áras Chill Dara after it emerged that the district’s Christmas Lights allocation was left out of the 2025 Local Property Tax budget list.
Fianna Fáil councillor Donna Phelan has tabled a motion warning that, without urgent action, the district could face delays in getting festive lights up in time for the season.
She has asked the council to front-load the money from this year’s budget, and pay it back from the 2026 allocation - a workaround she says will keep the lights on.
