New figures have revealed that 3,423 children in Kildare are on waiting lists for early years childcare providers.
It follows Pobal figures for 2024/2025.

Nationwide, 46,241 children under the age of 3 were on waiting lists for childcare around the country.
It also found that childcare is costing Kildare families an average of €936.88 per month for one child in full-time care.
According to the National Women's Council, "Kildare is one of Ireland’s many ‘childcare deserts’ where the lack of early years places is particularly acute".
Ahead of the Budget, the National Women's Council is calling on government to roll-out publicly-delivered early childhood education and care services in marginalised and underserved communities.
The NWC is also calling on Government to begin paying wages for educators, as a "feasible way to fulfil election promises of childcare costing less than €200 a month".
