Five people in Kildare have been arrested for drink and drug related offences in the last week
Gardaí have said that there will be extra presence as part of the upcoming bank holiday weekend.
Speaking to Kildare Today, Athy Garda Seán O' Mahony has advised people not to drive under the influence this weekend.
"There will be extra checkpoints on the road, if you're drinking and driving, the chances are you're going to be stopped."
He also cited many events taking place for the weekend amid good weather, and acknowledged that people will be "out enjoying themselves".
