A councillor has revealed that there were five people "knocked down" as a result of road collisions on main street Naas in 2024.
It comes as there have been calls for a pedestrian crossing to be introduced on the Kilcullen Road in Naas, from Swans on the Green towards SuperValu.
Figures from the RSA website, show a map of road collisions in areas of the country:

The map shows seven collisions overall on and near the main street, with those in orange identified as non-serious, with the blue marker an indicator that a serious injury has occurred as a result of a road collision.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Independent Ireland Councillor for Naas MD Bill Clear said that road safety is an issue in Naas:
"Five people were knocked down on the main street last year, it's terrible for the people who were knocked down, but for the people who did the knocking down, they're in for a world of pain."
"Driver behaviour is an issue, I've seen it myself, I saw a lady with a mobility aid, and a fellow who should know better, blowing the horn, roaring at her."
Cllr Clear added that "there's a perception there that the priority isn't with the pedestrian".
He also highlighted frequent trips and falls that have occurred on the road.
