Kildare County Council says they're working to resolve the issue of weed and algae proliferation in Naas lakes.

The Parks Department for KCC is currently working with Naas Biodiversity Group to seek a solution to the "siltation and nutrient enrichment of the water" which is part of trying to rectify the weed proliferation.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Labour Councillor for Naas MD Anne Breen said she has been raising the motion for four years, but the issue does seem to be reaching a resolution now:
"For four years this is going on, the first year they [the council] told me it was the bad weather, the second year they told me it was because of the hot weather, the next year we had mixed weather and the same thing happened again, so hopefully this year they'll come to a solution.
"It means that ducks and swans can't sit in the water, and can't go into the water because of the algae and weeds."
Cllr Breen also said that she is awaiting the results of a report from KCC in relation to the issue of weed growth in the area, hoping that their work with Naas Biodiversity Group can clarify the situation.
