A local councillor has expressed disappointment regarding the continued absence of a previous Naas bus stop
Disappointment has been expressed surrounding the continued absence of a long-standing bus stop in Naas.
It comes as Fine Gael Councillor for Naas MD ,Fintan Brett, raised a question about the reinstatement of the bus stop at Poplar Square.
It follows recent reports by Kfm that there was 500 bus stops in need of upgrades in Kildare.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Cllr Brett said that the council had removed the bus stop while seating was being installed in place of parking spaces in the town, but insisted that it didn't have any effect on the bus stop:
"There's no reason why that bus station shouldn't be there. If a simple job like putting up a bus stop can't be done, you really shake your head at it."
"It's so frustrating."
"Every other week there's afew people asking 'When are you putting the bus stop in, I have to walk every week from Market square to Poplar square to get to my doctors appointment'."
In response to Cllr Brett's question, Kildare County Council said that the bus stop at the location is "still under review".
Cllr Brett was unsure as to why it was still under review:
"I do not know what they're reviewing. There was a bus stop there for probably 60 or 70 years."
"There's no reason we cant put a bus stop there."
