Under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme
Outdoor projects in Monasterevin & Old Kilcullen are to receive €132,390 in government funding.
Under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS), Monasterevin has been awarded €87,390 towards a pedestrian & cycle link, from the town, to Moore Abbey Woods.
Minister Martin Heydon, Kildare South TD confirmed the allocation this morning noting the “funding should allow for the completion of this pathway after stage 1 works were carried out by Coillte earlier this year.”
Elsewhere, €45,000 will be provided to “progress proposed walking and cycling routes” linking heritage sites across Old Kilcullen. The monies will also be used towards a "feasibility study & design work on the proposed routes".
The funding is part of €15.5 million Minister Heather Humpreys announced for outdoor infrastructure nationwide earlier today.
