A smashed rear window caught the attention of Naas Gardaí while on mobile patrol in Sallins.

Gardaí on mobile patrol in recent days discovered a motorist who had a smashed rear window, and was later found to have their tax expired for over 400 days.

The smashed rear window initially caught the attention of Naas Gardaí while in Sallins.

The driver also failed to display valid insurance, motor tax and CVRT discs as required.

The van was seized under Section 41 of the Road Traffic Act and Fixed Charge Penalty Notices will follow.

On social media, Gardaí have urged motorists to "keep your vehicle roadworthy, taxed, tested and display your discs. It'll save you a much longer journey on foot".
