Gardaí Investigating Racially Motivated Incident In Kildare Town

The incident occurred last Wednesday in Kildare Town

Gardaí are investigating an incident in Kildare Town in which a racist word was spray painted outside a house.

The incident occurred after 10pm on Wednesday last week.

According to Gardaí, 5 young males spray painted "a highly racist word" on the footpath outside the property in Leinster Square.

The main culprit was wearing black runners, green shorts, a black sleeveless t-shirt with yellow on it and has long dark hair.

The other young men were dressed in dark jeans, two wearing white coloured tops, one in a black t-shirt and the last in a yellow shirt.

Gardaí have said that it was a racist act.

If anyone saw these suspects or believes they may be able to assist, they are asked to  contact Gardaí.

Speaking on Kildare Today's Crimewatch, Garda Shane Smyth paid tribute to the "brilliant neighbours who saw this vile word on the ground in their community and took the initiative to clean it up themselves".
