There is no environmental threat, according to Kildare County Council, after a horse carcass was left in a bog drain in Athy for several weeks.
Residents had raised concerns after the dead animal was seen lying in the waterway since December.
The council said the carcass is located on private land and is therefore the responsibility of the landowner.
In a statement to Kfm News, a council spokesperson said "the carcass poses no environmental risk".
