A local councillor has raised concern following children needing medical attention after purchasing and using a vape
Independent Ireland Councillor for Naas Municipal District Bill Clear has expressed concern about vapes being sold to people under the age of 18.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Cllr Clear said that he was contacted by parents whose children had become "incredibly sick" after using a vape.
"I was contacted by parents whose child had become very sick from a vape that they had been able to purchase, the child and her friends were 15-years-old, they all needed medical attention and some needed to go to hospital."
Cllr Clear has said the incident was reported to HSÉ and that he had spoke to the Minister for Health about it.
As a father of teenagers, Cllr Clear voiced his own frustration surrounding the situation:
"Parents were so angry and so mad.It started to spark huge concern."
"I don't know why we're going down this road, we're allowing businesses to make their place look attractive with cartoon characters, toys and sweets mixed in with vapes. I spoke to a parent who said that every time they pass by one of these shops, her 6-year-old tries to drag her inside."
