Maynooth LEA has highest infection rate in Co. Kildare
1,782 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed yesterday afternoon, the highest number of virus cases since late January.
From the period of 20th July to 2nd August, the incidence rate in Maynooth local electoral area was 336.4 cases per 100,000 people - the highest in Co. Kildare.
100 cases in the LEA were recorded.
The next highest incidence was in Kildare LEA at 307.4, per 100,000 people, with 79 cases of the virus reported.
Athy LEA's rate was 293.9, with 78 people contracting the virus.
Naas had the next highest rate, at 291.4, with 114 confirmed cases.
The incidence rate in Leixlip LEA was 283.7, with 45 cases recorded.
Newbridge's rate was 273.4, 97 cases were notified.
Celbridge Local Electoral Area incidence rate for the 2 week period was 198.8 cases, per 100,000 people, with 43 people contracting the virus.
Clane LEA had the lowest incidence rate in the county at 168.8 per 100,000 people.
48 cases were notified.
All of the county's LEAs were below the national average, which was 372.6.
