A record number, 17,122 people were homeless in January, according to the latest Department of Housing's homeless report.
It is an increase of 378 from December figures of 16,734.
More than 5,300 children are living in emergency accommodation across the country.
In Kildare, 223 adults accessed emergency accommodation last month, an increase of 22 people compared to December figures.
Across the Mid-East - Kildare, Meath and Wicklow - a total of 651 people were in emergency accommodation in January.
Charities in the sector are expressing concern at the continuing rise in homelessness.
