JNLR: Kfm +10,000 Daily Year on Year; Market Share Length of Time Listening Jumps 7%

For the fourth consecutive quarter, Kfm has increased its listenership, bringing an overall increase over the last 12 months of 5.1% an increase of 10,000.

The latest Ipsos/MRBI Joint National Listenership Research (JNLR/Ipsos) report covering the period from July 2024 to end of June this year shows that radio is enjoying record levels of listenership.

More than 3.5 million people are listening each weekday and more than half a million of those listen to radio on digital devices.

Ciaran Cunningham, CEO Radiocentre Ireland, said: "It is clear that radio listening is booming in Ireland, and today's figures are a strong reminder that Irish radio remains a central part of people's lives. All segments of the Irish population-from young to old-are tuning in in large numbers.

He added: "This presents a valuable opportunity for brands to harness the power of radio and connect with listeners across both broadcast and online platforms."

Locally, the research reveals continued growth for Kfm across the four Quarter periods of the last 12 month's research

For the fourth consecutive quarter, Kfm has increased its listenership, bringing an overall increase over the last 12 months of 5.1%, an increase of 10,000 daily listeners

Market share - reflecting the duration listeners remain tuned in - has seen an even stronger year-on-year increase of 7%, while weekly audience figures have grown over the past 12 months, bringing the total number of listeners per week, aged 15 and over to 73,000.

The research results mean thousands more tune to Kfm daily and across the week, and the Market Share reveals they are listening for longer periods each day, which is a key metric for advertisers to maximise exposure of their brand and products.

Kfm CEO Clem Ryan says the latest research is a major reflection of the power of radio and a huge vote of confidence in Kfm:  Kildare's Local Radio Station.

"Our results are extremely encouraging given that county Kildare is officially part of the Dublin Commuter Belt, has experienced decades of population influx from other counties, mainly Dublin; resulting in Kfm having competition from up to a dozen national, regional and Dublin local stations which are all heard throughout Kildare."

He added: "A huge thanks to our Kfm listeners, to our advertisers and sponsors for their support and to Kfm staff for their commitment and professionalism keeping Kfm the No.1 radio station across the week in county Kildare:  ahead of all national, regional and local stations which can be heard in the county."
