The awareness week is set to take place on the week beginning October 15th.
Athy family resource centre is promoting an upcoming Baby Loss Awareness Week that will take place across Ireland later this year.
The Athy centre are hoping to hold their first Wave of Light remembrance event this year as part of the awareness week.
The awareness week is set to take place on the week beginning October 15th.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Selena Meinen, parents plus facilitator and family support worker in Athy Community Family Resource Centre said that baby loss can be a "taboo subject".
"It is a bit of a taboo subject, and not something that's given the recognition or support that it should get, especially dads or siblings, they don't get the support or recognition when they're going through this really traumatic event."
"Unless you have a family member or close friend who has gone through it, you don't really understand the impact of it, and how many people have miscarriages and are expected to just get on with it."
Ms Meinen is also looking for the remembrance event to become an annual occurrence in Athy:
"We're really hoping to make this an annual event, to bring some awareness and recognition to this really important area."
"We also want to create a space here where families, parents, siblings and friends who have gone through this, can come here to have a safe space to be with like-minded people."
