"It Looks In A Shocking State": Councillor Criticises Naas Playground That Is Currently Fenced-Off

A local councillor has asked for the council to prepare a report regarding the closure of a playground at an estate in Castle Farm in Naas.

He also requested for a timeline for it's return to public use to be outlined.

Speaking on Kildare Today, Independent Ireland Councillor for Naas MD Bill Clear said that "all of the councillors are annoyed about the situation":

"This estate has been built a number of years now, the playground was the last remaining issue. It looks in a shocking state and parents up there would say 'I'm not going to let my child play there', it's completely fenced off."

Cllr Clear added that there are "boulders and sticks" on the site, adding to it's unpleasant look.

"The developer and the council can't figure out what's going on there, it shouldn't be left in this state, particularly in the beautiful weather and children can't play in that playground."

In response, KCC said that it remains closed to allow for establishment of the planting/landscaping associated with the playground
area, adding that the Taking in Charge of Castle Farm was advertised with the period for submissions ending on the 1st of July.

It concluded that the overall development including the playground will be reviewed in line with the granted planning permission and having consideration to submissions received during the consultation period.
