Just Two Kildare Centres Funded For Child Counselling Services As Smaller Counties Get More

Minister for Children Norma Foley this week announced that 73 community-based organisations across Ireland would receive annual funding through Tusla, the Child and Family Agency.

Kildare has received funding for just two local organisations under a new €1.5 million national initiative for child and family counselling services.

Minister for Children Norma Foley this week announced that 73 community-based organisations across Ireland would receive annual funding through Tusla, the Child and Family Agency.

The goal is to improve access to therapeutic services for children and families through counselling, play therapy, bereavement support and systemic family therapy.

In Kildare, only two groups will benefit this year:

Curragh Pride Family Resource Centre, awarded €26,000

In Sync Youth & Family Services in Naas, awarded €20,000

Clare, with roughly half of Kildare’s population, had four organisations funded, receiving €50,000 in total.

Limerick, with a population of around 210,000, secured five funded organisations totalling €84,000.
