Emily Square is included in the proposal.
There are calls for a pilot pedestrianisation project in Athy town centre.
The proposal has been put forward by Fianna Fáil councillor, Brian Dooley.
He suggests that the project should go live "when restrictions lift and businesses re-open in June".
The councillor is asking Kildare County Council to "look to pedestrianise Emily Square on riday/Saturday/Sunday evenings from 6 pm -10 pm"
Furthermore, he says, KCC should "engage with all stakeholders during the process and fund the delivery of outdoor benches and equipment as part of the pilot".
The motion will be debated at May's meeting of the Athy Municipal District on Tuesday.
