It was asked when it would work throughout backlog of approved Athy projects.
There's a backlog of approved roads projects throughout the Athy Municipal District.
This includes schemes at Booleigh Crossroads and Kilmead.
KCC says "Due to limited resources and the requirement to service all 5 Municipal Districts, it is not possible to facilitate all requests for junction improvements. "
Athy MD Labour Cllr., Mark Leigh, says the council does not have a design team, and outsources the work.
Kildare County Council issued this response: "The Roads Project team is a limited resource and are currently prioritising the delivery of the Athy Distributor Road. The Project Team have previously agreed with the Athy Municipal District Councillors to develop designs for a number of
locations in the district, including Booleigh Crossroads and Kilmeade. Due to limited resources and the requirement to service all 5 Municipal Districts, it is not possible to facilitate all requests for junction improvements. It is requested that the proposed projects should be prioritised through the Athy Municipal District Engineer to be developed subject to funding and resources being available."
Cllr. Leigh joined Eoin Beatty on Thursday's edition of Kildare Today on all of his motions before the May meeting of the Athy MD.
