It says "any land that is available and suitable for recreation and amenity, is being used."
Kildare County Council has indicated it cannot, immediately, carry out an audit of its Newbridge lands, in response to the "dire need" for outdoor amenities in the town.
Independent Cllr., Fiona McLoughlin Healy, says that demand extends to the town's hinterland, and is exacerbated by the on-going construction of new homes.
She says there are "known needs" in the town, including a national competition level BMX park an alternative location to the Curragh Plains for scramblers and a space for Newbridge Volleyball Club.
The councill says the audit would identify lands where amenities "might optimally be located"
KCC, responding at the Kildare Newbridge MD meeting, says "An audit of lands can be carried out but will have to be considered for a future works programme for the Parks section. We currently do not have the capacity to undertake this work given existing commitments. Audits of council owned land have been carried previously and any land that is available and suitable for recreation and amenity, is being used."
