Kilsaran has been given leave for the extraction of 3 million tonnes of sand and gravel from the Racefield site.

Kildare County Council will review of An Bord Pleanala's decision to grant permission for a quarry in Ballyshannon.

The national planning authority granted permission, on appeal, to Kilsaran for the extraction of 3 million tonnes of sand and gravel from the Racefield site.

Kildare County Council refused permission for the project in November 2019 - the firm subsequently referred it to ABP.

Over 200 objects were lodged from local people and organisations.

The Fine Gael group of councillors on Kildare County Council asked KCC for the review, which should be completed in a month.

One of those Cllrs in Kevin Duffy.

Cllr. Duffy joined Eoin Beatty on Thursday's edition of Kildare Today.
