Incident occurred at Newbridge Garda Station last night.
A man has been detained after spraying a substance, believed to be petrol, at two probationer Gardai in Newbridge Garda Station overnight.
A 29 year old man presented himself at the station before 9pm last night.
He spoke to Gardai in the public office and then sprayed a substance throughout the foyer, and at Gardai.
The two probationer Gardai de-escalated the situation, and the man, of no fixed abode, was detained.
Superintendent Martin Walker, speaking to Kildare Today, says he is in the care of mental health professionals.
Superintendent Walker joined Clem Ryan on Tuesday morning's edition of the programme.
