The play area was to shut next week, to make way for community centre construction.
Kilcock playground is to be relocated, not closed.
Kildare County Council announced earlier this week that construction of a €2 million community centre in Bawnogues is to begin on June 8th, and take around 10 months.
That site currently houses the town's playground.
KCC, when noting the construction start date, said a location has been identified within the Bawnogues site for a "new and bigger playground".
And, it adds, it will "co-ordinate the design of the new playground while centre works are ongoing, with a view to progressing to construction when centre works are complete."
That would, however, have meant no play area for at least a year.
The matter was covered on Thursday's edition of Kildare Today and raised in the Dáil last night by Sinn Féin Kildare North TD, Réada Cronin.
It has been confirmed that the play area will not close, but will be immediately relocated.
BREAKING #Kilcock Playground to be relocated! Great news for our community. Delighted to bring this urgent issue to KildareCoCo, Dáil, Tánaiste & Minister for Children. Congratulations to fantastic Mams & Dads. People power✊
