The program is designed to support the construction of new AD facilities and upgrades to existing biogas plants
A Kildare agricultural business has received €5M as part of nationwide funding worth €19M.
All projects are set to begin today, with Evergreen Agricultural Enterprises in Monasterevin receiving the maximum funding for such a project.
The program is designed to support the construction of new AD facilities and upgrades to existing biogas plants, driving towards the National Biomethane Strategy goal of producing up to 5.7 terawatt-hours of indigenous biomethane annually by 2030
Minster for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, and Kildare TD Martin Heydon, has said these projects alone could account for 10% of the 2030 target for biomethane production, as set down in the Climate action plan, and will be the equivalent to the heating requirement of 56,000 homes.
A further €200 million, secured through the National Development Plan process, will support a second round of capital grants for anaerobic digestion plants.
This funding programme is expected to open later in 2026 and will continue through to 2030.
