Landmark buildings to turn purple
Today is International Day Of Persons With Disabilities, buildings across Co. Kildare will turn purple in celebration.
643,131 people in Ireland live with a disability - over 13% of the country's population.
Landmark buildings, such as Áras Cill Dara, Maynooth University & Newbridge Town Hall will be lit purple.
Kildare County Council’s Kildare Disability Week began on Monday, with events scheduled throughout the week to highlight & raise awareness of the inclusion of people with disabilities in all areas of the community.
People across the county are encouraged to get involved, and mark the day by donning the colour purple.
- Wear a piece of purple clothing
- Decorate your premises/shop front windows in purple
- Display message on digital notice boards in support of day.
- Purple background for virtual meetings
The public is also invited to join the conversation online, showing their support by using the hashtags #IDPwD and #PurplelightsKildare.
