Affected electors have been notified via letter.
Kildare County Council has addressed an error in the Register of Electors concerning the estate of Askinraw Drive.
Previously misclassified, this estate falls within the Ballyshannon Polling District of the Athy Local Electoral Area (LEA), not the Kildare LEA as previously listed.
The discrepancy affected 67 electors who were inaccurately registered under the Kildare LEA.
The boundary between the Athy and Kildare LEAs intersects around Suncroft, leading to this administrative confusion.
The council has now corrected the Register of Electors, reassigning these individuals to the Athy LEA.
Consequently, their designated polling place has been updated to Room 1 at Ballyshannon National School, which is only a five-minute drive from their previous polling location.
Affected electors have been notified via letter, detailing the change and providing the council's contact number (045 980 201) for any further inquiries.
This update is significant for candidates contesting in either LEA, as it clarifies the accurate canvassing boundaries.
