Kildare County Council Has Highest Rate Of Refusal For Social Homes

Small gardens and no parking were given as reasons for turning down the offer of a council home.

Kildare County Council has the highest rate of refusals on offers of social housing at 38 per cent.

Over a two year period there were over 400 refusals in Kildare.

According to the Irish Independent, small gardens, no parking and an 'unsuitable' location were given as reasons for turning down the offer of a council home.

More than five thousand offers of social housing were turned down in 2021 and 2022 - almost one in five of offers made during the two year period.
