In a statement, the Council said the fund is being managed directly by the developer, not by the local authority.
Kildare County Council has confirmed it has no role in administering the community benefit fund linked to the Timahoe Solar Farm.
The clarification came in response to a question from Fianna Fail Councillor Daragh Fitzpatrick, who asked whether terms of reference for the scheme had been agreed and when it would be advertised.
In a statement, the Council said the fund is being managed directly by the developer, not by the local authority.
A public consultation on the proposed operation of the fund has already been carried out, and feedback is now under review.
However, there is no confirmed timeline for when applications to the fund will open.
kfm has contacted Bnm, formerly Bord na Mona, for comment.
The solar farm is Ireland's first large-scale solar farm, developed by ESB and BnM.
Cllr Fitzpatrick said its important that locals have a say when it comes to giving out funds because they know what is needed on the ground.
