The drop reflects a broader trend in the Eastern Region and nationally, where drug offences have steadily declined.
Drug-related offences in Kildare have halved over the past two years, according to new Garda figures seen by Kfm.
The Kildare/Carlow division recorded 1,338 incidents in 2024, down from 2,720 in 2022, marking a 51% decrease.
The drop reflects a broader trend in the Eastern Region and nationally, where drug offences have steadily declined.
Gardaí attribute the fall to targeted policing and community engagement.
The Garda Representative Association (GRA), however, claim the decrease is due to “less gardaí on the streets”.
