They are asking all road users to take extra care during the school run.
Kildare Gardaí have issued advice to motorists and parents as the new school year begins this week.
They are asking all road users to take extra care during the school run.
Gardaí have asked motorists to slow down and stay alert around schools and to follow the directions of school wardens at all times.
They have highlighted the importance of exercising caution as children cross the road, as well as giving cyclists space, and not to double park or stop where parking is prohibited.
Gardaí have also asked for parents to plan safe drop-off and collection points, and never to park illegally or in a way that puts children or other road users at risk.
On social media, they said : "a few extra seconds of care can make all the difference"."
"Slow down. Stay alert. Our children matter."
