The celebration runs for seven days, from Sunday.
A series of events will; take place across Co. Kildare to mark National Heritage Week, which begins on Sunday.
The theme is ‘Open the door to heritage’, and many of the events are online, although some will take place in person, in line with public health guidelines.

- Opening the door to the archives of Maynooth College: An online project raising awareness of research resources for those interested in the history of St Patrick's College, Maynooth, those who worked or studied there and the archives' collections that form its holdings. More…
- Guided Walk of the Three Abbeys of Kildare: A Guided Walk of the Three Abbeys of Kildare. An opportunity to highlight three Medieval Abbeys often missed by the public and their importance to the story of Kildare one of Irelands oldest towns. The walk is approx 6km in length and will take place on Saturday, 14th August at 11am, Wednesday, 18th at 11am, Saturday, 21st August at 11am. More…
- The Bumblebee Monitoring Project on Lullymore West: The Irish Peatland Conservation Council (IPCC) are surveying bumblebees as part of 'The Bumblebee Monitoring Project on Lullymore West' in Co. Kildare. A one hour weekly monitoring survey will take place over the course of 26 weeks (April - September) in 2021. As part of this project, IPCC are hosting a family friendly walk & talk event ‘Discovering the bumblebees and butterflies of Lullymore West at 11am on Saturday, 14th August to celebrate Heritage Week 2021.
