It's hoped the roll out of an RSV vaccine could help reduce the number of babies hospitalised with the infection.
Health Minister Stephen Donnelly is bringing proposals to Cabinet today which would see 28-thousand babies, born between September this year and February 2025, offered the jab.

Dr. Brendan O’Shea, Kildare GP and Adjuvant Professor in Public Health and Primary Care at Trinity College Dublin, says a roll-out of the vaccine would help reduce the spread of RSV this winter.
