People living in Fen Grove say they were told that they would be given the option to buy their homes.
The Housing Minister has been asked to meet with the residents of a Kildare housing association estate.
People living in Fen Grove, which was built by Droichea Nua Housing Association in 1996, say they were told that they would be given the option to buy their homes.
They say the residents association has minutes of meetings reflecting this.
However, the Housing Association says no such offer was made and no mechanism exists to allow purchase by residents.
The Dept. of Housing is understood to be of the view that the decision to sell homes to residents is one for individual housing associations.
