Kildare Innovation Campus (KIC) Embarks On €2.4 Billion Expansion, Pledges 3,000 High-Tech Jobs by 2030

It is also set to become Ireland’s sole carbon-neutral campus, championing the use of locally sourced renewable energy.

Kildare Innovation Campus (KIC), nestled in a parkland spread across 184 acres between Celbridge and Leixlip, has unveiled plans for a substantial €2.4 billion investment in its further development.

The ambitious expansion is poised to generate 3,000 new high-tech jobs over three phases by the culmination of 2030.

It is also set to become Ireland’s sole carbon-neutral campus, championing the use of locally sourced renewable energy.

Currently housing entities such as MGS Ireland, Mercury, Hewlett Packard Enterprises, Cully Automation, DXC Technology, and Nikon Precision Europe, KIC already supports over 1,000 employees on-site.

Phase 1 of the expansion, slated for completion by the end of next year, is expected to augment this figure by an additional 1,000.

By 2030, with the full realisation of the campus, a further 2,000 roles are anticipated to be established.

A recent Grant Thornton Report forecasts that the expanded campus will inject a total economic output of €5 billion into the Irish economy.

In tandem with its expansion efforts, KIC is in the process of constructing a bespoke innovation hub dubbed "The Hub at KIC."

This facility aims to serve as a dedicated landing space for both indigenous deep-tech scale-ups and foreign direct investment, fostering collaboration and innovation within Ireland's tech landscape.

The hub will undergo a complete deep retrofit within existing campus structures.

With planning permission secured earlier this year, all but one of the new buildings slated for the campus expansion have been pre-let to leading global blue-chip technology firms.

Preparatory works are already in motion, including the development of new buildings and the construction of a cycle and pedestrian bridge spanning Celbridge and Leixlip towns over the M6 motorway.

Allan Shine, CEO of KIC, envisions the campus as Europe's preeminent carbon-neutral technology and innovation hub, distinguished by its scale, services, and adaptability.

Shine assumed leadership of the KIC team in February, spearheading the ambitious expansion of the campus.
