Kildare Parenting Expert Says Its A Mistake To Believe Social Media Engagement Is An Indicator Of Good Parenting.

Dr. Colman Noctor quotes the meme ‘I wish my kids would leave me alone while I repeatedly refresh Facebook to see who liked my post about my kids’.

A Kildare expert in parenting says the topic of parents posting images of their children online is a divisive one.

Dr. Colman Noctor is a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, and writing in the Irish Examiner , he says "There are many examples of where sharing information online has an underlying motivation."

He adds, however, that parents should interrogate the reasons behind their posting of images of their children, and whether older children consent.

He joined Eoin Beatty on Thursday's edition of Kildare Today
