The Finance Minister says an increase in the rent tax credit as part of Budget 2025 is being considered.
The renters' tax credit was first introduced as part of Budget 2023, starting out at €500 per renter per year.
This was further increased last October, rising to €750 euro per renter per year.
Yesterday the Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien hinted that he would like to see this increased to €1000 per year in the next Budget

If a number of tenants pay the rent for a property, each individual or couple can claim the Rent Tax Credit for the rent they pay.
Speaking this afternoon in his first press conference since he was appointed Finance Minister, Jack Chambers says an increase will be strongly considered.
