Construction is set to begin today (21 September) on a major water project on the Kildare border in Enfield, Co Meath.
Crews will commence installation of almost 8km of a new water main along the L5028 and L1007 roads, including a crossing underneath the M4, with the final section along the R148 to the Lidl roundabout in Enfield.
Traffic management measures will be introduced in phases and planned to minimise disruption as much as possible.
The first phase of works will require a temporary road closure in the Newtown area in north Kildare on the L5028-1 (Kilbride Road) until December.
Diversions will be in place throughout this time, access for local residents, businesses and emergency services will be maintained.
The works will be carried out in phases on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Coffey Construction Ltd. and are expected to be completed by the end of Q3 2027.
UÉ says this €20 million investment will help to meet the needs of a growing community while improving the "resilience and performance of the existing water supply system".
