A Kildare woman has won The Beko Woman’s Way Mum of the Year.
She was awarded the accolade at a special ceremony earlier this week.
Mother-of-two Carol Hyland works with marginalised young people in Dublin, who are fighting for opportunities, safe spaces and the support they need.
Originally from Tipperary, she now lives in Naas with her family.
She accepted her award at a special lunch at 25 Fitzwilliam Place this week, celebrating Irish mothers and highlighting their contribution across all facets of society.
Carol admits she was shocked to be nominated for the award and immediately pointed to other mums she believes have a much harder road than hers.
Shining through is her heartwarming belief that : “If we can’t build each other up as women and as humans, we’re at nothing".
