People all across Kildare contributed green squares that were used to make the cloak.

In March the Kildare Yarn Bombers groups asked the people of Kildare to knit and send in green squares, to make St. Brigid’s cloak.

Annie Morris, from the Yarn Bomber group said they had no idea that so many people would get behind the project.

Over 300 people sent in their squares from all over county Kildare and further afield .

Debbie Smith even crocheted some sheep.

"Alison Whyte took on the enormous challenge of bringing it all together and has been working on it since March.

"She has patiently joined together 600 green squares, then she decided to crochet St Brigid.

"We think she is amazing," said Annie.

St Brigid and her cloak are now on display in Whitewater, Newbridge.

St.Brigid will be on display for the month of June to mark Junefest.

The project is in aid of Kildare and West Wicklow Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Ltd (KWWSPCA), you can make a donation here.
