A number of surveys have been launched inviting local people, clubs and volunteers to give recommendations for future renewal and plans in Leixlip.

The group originally came together following the closure of two "major" shops in 2023, with the residents looking to take action.
Speaking on Kildare Today, member of Leixlip Village Renewal Group Linda Curran explained the vision for the group:
"Our vision was to improve the look of the village, we unfortunately are like many small towns, we have a lot of derelict buildings and empty shops, and some were looking quite sad.
"Initially we got some funding locally to start painting buildings to make them look a bit better."
"I think every small town suffers, because people do their shopping online, people don't think of the small shops trying to survive in their local village, we're always trying to support shopping local."
As the surveys are launched, Linda stresses the importance for people of all ages to contribute their thoughts on future ideas for Leixlip:
"The survey is aimed at gathering the ideas of people of all ages, anyone has a view of what they'd like to see in the village.
"We're circulating it as far as we can, and we're asking people to maybe encourage the older people in your family or teenagers to fill it out."
She hopes that it can be presented to "major funders" which will allow the village to access funding that can improve the area.
