Locals in Crodaun estate in Celbridge are reportedly "very happy" following a recent meeting with Uisce Éireann, according to a local councillor.
The meeting took place last Thursday between Uisce Éireann and the local residents association.
It follows two separate motions made by Fine Gael Councillor for Leixlip-Celbridge MD Declan Ryan, regarding protection to homes and a 300-year-old oak tree adjacent to deep excavation and rock breaking works, including pre-condition surveys, vibration monitoring, structural
oversight and remediation arrangements should damage occur to the houses.
The estate, which was built in the 1960s and 1970s, has ongoing works in place since January 2026, expected to be completed by 2027.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Cllr Ryan said that it is the first time Uisce Éireann have met with a residents association:
"We had a meeting two weeks ago with Uisce Éireann and they finally agreed to meet the residents. I think it's the first time I've seen UÉ meet a residents association."
While Cllr Ryan was not in attendance at the meeting, he said that the general consensus was that locals were "very happy" with the meeting, even though there are some things to be "ironed out".
"I believe the meeting was very constructive, they were basically very happy with what came out of the meeting, there's a few little bits and pieces to be ironed out which there always is."
He also said that UÉ had appointed a consultant to oversee the works being done.
