A public meeting took place in Teach Diarmada in Castledermot last Thursday evening, with locals in Castledermot and Kilkea expressing concern at a proposed biomethane plant for the townland of Ballyvass.
A formal planning application has yet to be submitted to Kildare County Council, but company CycleØ has said it plans to build a biogas plant in the area.
Locals say they are concerned about a number of issues including increased traffic, noise pollution, odour and the effect it could have on the biodiversity and environment in the nearby Mullaghreelan Woods.
Kfm attended the meeting and spoke to members of Ballyvass Biogas Concern Group Sandra O'Dwyer and John Phelan.

Kfm also contacted the company, CycleØ for a comment.
