The decision has sparked outrage among families who have highlighted the trauma and decline in health among residents caused by the uncertainty.
Families of residents at Lucan Lodge, a 74-bed facility, are organising a protest at Dr. Steevens' Hospital on Wednesday at 2 pm in response to the Health Service Executive's (HSE) decision to relocate residents within four weeks.
The move follows the closure of Passage Healthcare, the facility's former management, due to financial difficulties.
The HSE has temporarily taken over Lucan Lodge, citing new safety concerns including Legionella and fire risks, although residents say specific evidence has not been provided.
The decision has sparked outrage among families who have highlighted the trauma and decline in health among residents caused by the uncertainty.
Families have stressed the vulnerability of many residents, who are medically complex or nearing the end of life, and argue that relocation poses significant health risks.
They have urged the HSE to prioritise resident well-being and seek a solution that avoids further unnecessary trauma, pointing to similar issues at Cherry Orchard Hospital.
Kfm has contacted the HSE for comment.
