New user-friendly and fully accessible fishing bays and bike bays will also be constructed.
Over €150k has been allocated to improve accessibility at the Grand Canal in Ballyteague.
The funding aims to enhance the canal bank around Ballyteague GAA Club.
The project includes a full resurfacing of the tow path at Ballyteague, extending to the main road, which will provide a safer alternative route for access.
New user-friendly and fully accessible fishing bays and bike bays will also be constructed.
The initiative is expected to benefit various local groups, including the Allenwood Day Care Centre, Ballyteague Community Hub, Allen CE Scheme Good Morning Kildare, and others that operate out of the Ballyteague GAA club grounds.
